The community will have a chance to meet new Bakersfield Condors head coach Troy Mann on Wednesday.
The open forum will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the ballroom of the Bakersfield Marriott.
Mann talked about his new position Tuesday on "First Look with Scott Cox," noting that he hopes his years in the American Hockey League will bring some players here.
The new coach said hockey is the "in" thing to watch in this town, and he looks forward to that.
His primary focus right now is signing players, and specifically making contacts with players and their agents.
In addition to coaching, Mann played professionally for 11 years.
"You look like you could get out there and mix it up if you had to," simulcast host Scott Cox said to Mann.
Ryan Holt, media relations and broadcasting manager for the Condors, hinted at a future announcement of a team affiliation, but gave no details.
Cox ribbed Mann about the move to Bakersfield in the pounding heat of summer.
His family has not yet joined him, but will be here soon. Cox said they'll have to adjust to the triple-digit temperatures.
"I hope you know more about hockey than the logistics of transplanting your family," Cox said good-naturedly.
