Archer meets with Iowa agricultural, business professionals; tours farms
DAVENPORT ? After John Archer toured a farm in Appanoose County the previous week much of last week was spent dealing with agricultural issues throughout Iowa's 2nd Congressional district.
Archer is challenging Democrat Dave Loebsack for Iowa's 2nd District Congressional seat, which includes all of Appanoose County.
Archer met with farm implement dealers in Keokuk County, crop insurance professionals in Johnson County and feed mill operators in Cedar County.
Archer and Congressman Sam Graves, 6th District of Missouri, inspected crops in Scott County before they spoke to a crowd of over 175 local farmers and business owners.
?We?ve seen the drought first hand and that should remind us how important agriculture is to our economic stability here in Iowa," Archer told Scott County farmers. "Livestock producers will especially be hurt along with all American consumers through higher costs in the grocery store. We owe them all a five-year Farm Bill.?
Graves encouraged Archer's constituents to send him to Washington, D.C.
"It needs the common sense and business experience that he has,? Graves said.
