Romney campaign unveils ?Mitt?s VP? app promising first-in-the-nation access to news

You can be among the first to learn of Romney's VP pick with this iPhone app

Though it's London Olympic coverage that's currently dominating news broadcasts, the 2012 presidential election campaign continues to march on. And as Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney nears a decision regarding his vice presidential pick, his campaign is offering supporters a chance to hear the news before everyone else via a new iPhone app.

The app, titled Mitt's VP, was released just today for iOS users. It's mostly a portal for connecting to the Romney campaign via Twitter, Facebook, and of course, for making a donation to the campaign. The app will also let you know when Mitt finally announces his choice later this summer. According to the app, "There's no telling when the announcement will be, so check back often and enable push notifications to get the exciting news before the press and just about everyone else (except maybe Ann)."?Unlike the first app released by the Mitt Romney campaign, this one appears to have been fully spellchecked and contains no unintentionally hilarious mistakes.

In 2008, the Barack Obama campaign offered supporters the chance to sign up to a special text message service to get first-in-the-nation news of Obama's running mate choice. Some users were disappointed in the service when they heard the news from CNN and other outlets long before receiving a text message at 3 a.m. announcing the Biden pick.
