A magnitude of 7.0 earthquake shook eastern and northeastern Japan on Sunday. It was?at a depth of nearly 217 miles and was recorded off Japan's southeastern Izu?islands at 5:27 GMT, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
Reuters reported via The Times of India that there were no immediate reports of injuries or damages. No?tsunami?warning was issued.
According to the report, the?earthquake measured 4 in central Tokyo, Fukushima and surrounding areas on the Japanese intensity scale, which measures ground motion, according to Japan Meteorological Agency. The agency uses a different measuring system than that of the U.S. Geological Survey.?
No abnormalities were reported at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear, which was damaged by a powerful tsunami, triggered by an earthquake in March. The March 11, earthquake struck?the northeast coast at magnitude 9, the strongest quake ever in Japan on record. It triggered a massive, destructive tsunami that damaged the nuclear plant, causing what is labeled ad the world's worst nuclear crisis in 25 years since Chernobyl. More than 20,000 people were reported dead or missing and there was billions in damages.
