[Abstract]

Objective: Colorectal cancer is one of the common gastrointestinal neoplasms, and its incidence rate is rising year by year. As for the patients visiting, about 15%~35% already have tumor metastasis because there aren?t overt symptoms in the early period of colorectal cancer, and tumor metastasis is one of the majority reasons to result in death. With the increasing researches about tumor on molecular level, the findings indicate that intra-cellular tyrosine phosphorylation level had the fundamental accommodative effect to cell growing, cell differentiation, signal conduction and cell cycle, and was related to tumor metastasis closely. Phosphatase of regenerating liver-3 (PRL-3), which was one of the nonclassical intra-cellular tyrosine phosphatases, was found recent years. .PRL-3 was expressed predominantly in the heart, striated muscle cells, and smooth muscle cells, but we knew very little about its function. Recently, Saha et al. performed global gene expression profiles using a serial analysis of gene expression approach and found that PRL-3 was frequently overexpressed in the liver metastasis studied, but expressed at lower levels in normal mucosa of colorectal cancer, primary tumor and innocence adenoma.
