Sundance 2013: "Kill Your Darlings" to Sony Pictures Classics

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Sony Pictures Classics wrapped up a deal for the Daniel Radcliffe movie "Kill Your Darlings" Tuesday night at the Sundance Film Festival.

SPC will have the rights in the U.S., along with Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Eastern Europe.

The drama about murder and Beat Generation literary giants Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and their friend Lucien Carr, premiered to a packed theater at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday. The screening drew immediate buzz, in part because Radcliffe (as Ginsberg) has a very explicit sex scene with Dane DeHaan (as Carr).

It's the first feature from director John Krokidas and also stars Ben Foster, Michael C. Hall, Jack Huston and Elizabeth Olsen.

"To be considered amongst the ranks of Pedro Almod?var and Woody Allen is beyond my wildest dreams," said Krokidas in a press release. "Sony Pictures Classics is truly the perfect place for this film. This is a dream come true."

"Kill Your Darlings" is produced by Krokidas, Benaroya Pictures' Michael Benaroya, Christine Vachon of Killer Films and Rose Ganguzza and is executive produced by Benaroya Pictures' head of production Joe Jenckes, Stefan Sonnenfeld, Jared Ian Goldman, Killer Films' Pamela Koffler and Randy Manis.

The deal was negotiated by SPC and UTA's Rena Ronson and Cassian Elwes.
