Lowcountry football player makes stir with Zimmerman tweets

ATLANTA (WCIV) -- Watch what you tweet -- that's the lesson James Island High School grad Roddy White is learning after making a stir Saturday night for tweeting a response to the George Zimmerman verdict.

He called for the six-woman jury to go home and kill themselves for finding Zimmerman not guilty. He went on to say that people retweeting him were just trying to get him in trouble.

He apologized for the tweet on Sunday.

The star NFL player has always been outspoken on social media. He also caused a stir five years ago when he wrote "Free Michael Vick" on his undershirt and revealing it on Monday Night Football.

Saturday night's tweet has already garnered 4,000 retweets and made national headlines.
